Elon Musk reveals why he didn’t make a console

Elon Musk is one of the biggest names in the tech industry, but he doesn’t have many plans to delve into the gaming side of things. Elon Musk has made a name for himself over the years because of businesses like Tesla, an electric car company that aims to be fast, affordable and packed with all kinds of features. Musk is also investing heavily in space exploration with the goal of going to Mars and more. Earlier this year, Elon Musk entered into a deal to buy Twitter, but eventually backed out of the deal that has since sparked a severe lawsuit from the social media company.

With Elon Musk dipping his toes into various sectors of the tech industry, he wouldn’t be investing much in gaming. In a recent interview with the Full Send Podcast, Elon Musk was asked if he was interested in making his own video game console and he quickly said “No, no need.” The billionaire pointed out that he is more than just a computer guy and that most consoles nowadays are closer to computers. Musk also indicated that he doesn’t think there is any value that could be added by creating another controller. With that said, Musk is a big player and loves to spread that out where it suits him. For example, recent iterations of the Tesla Model S have the ability to play video games on it, and Musk has said there will be some sort of integration with Steam in the future.

However, don’t expect a Tesla console or anything like that. It’s hard to imagine what Musk could put on consoles with great hardware like the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck in an effort to push the boundaries of gaming. We’re still probably at least 6-8 years away from a new generation of consoles, so only time will tell where the technology will be by then and what games will deliver at this point.
